Wouldn't it be a cute gag if the King Carny pulled down his hood...

...and he turns out to be P.T. Mindslap? ;)

(P.T. Mindslap was the character Mark Hamill played in one of the skits of the MST-3K episode that riffed the movie "Carnival Magic". ;) )
Hello again, Carnys! (hey...unless you can think of a better name for the fans who love The Carnevillans of Oz, this will have to do for now! ;) )

Once again, I'm extending my sincere gratitude to all you wild and crazy TF fans...and all you Oz fans...and anyone who just happened to like us regardless of what you enjoy...for your continuing kind words, likes, praises, and even criticisms of this little project by me and Andrea Montano, and of course, that exile from Oz known only as the Wandering Talespinner, who I represent in bringing his book tree harvests from Oogaboo to life on the internet! :)

OK, so now that Issue #1 is done, and Issue #2 is currently in development, a couple of our fans made a pretty interesting inquiry to me:

"Will we ever see a print version of Carnevillans?"

And there was another, far more interesting question:

"Do you have a Patreon?"

The answer to the first? Not yet. We're only two issues into the comic and while we have a nice little fanbase here on DeviantArt(which continues to grow), I still think the comic is a bit, well, raw. Hasn't really found its legs yet, so to speak.

But I could be wrong! What do you think? Let's hear your comments below!

The answer to the second is kinda-sorta related to the first, and it begs a much more important question from me, to you fans...

Would you, the fans, be willing to donate towards continued financing for the comic?

Now saying this, I should remind you all that I have NOT decided to become a greedy jerk. I do have a job that pays pretty well and allows me to finance what happens to be a long string of commissions to a professional, freelance artist...a really nice and a very, very talented artist, I might add...to bring you The Carnevillans of Oz, and your continued interest in the developing storyline drives me to continue writing scripts for future issues, and even if you either cannot, or will not, donate money towards its continued production, I will still continue to pony up for the commission fees for future issues.

But it would be nice to have a little funding help from the ones who love the comic so much, no?

Don't worry...I would never ask for, like, $1,000 or something as a minimum donation(or I'd be a greedy jerk). I'd also certainly consider drumming up a few rewards or so for high donations. For example: I could always come up with a one-sheet...with Andrea's help...that answers the question: what if Le Quin met Harley Quinn?? ;)

So what do you think, carnys? If I started a funding effort on my Patreon page(which remains empty at the moment), would any of you be interested in throwing a few bucks in towards continued production of the comic? Do you think the concept has print potential, even in a marketplace that's far more interested in Wicked-based offshoots of the land of Oz(which I'll never do)?

I have thought about eventually making this comic a selection on the popular e-comics site called Comixology, after all... ;)

For the moment, I'll continue to self-finance, but definitely give me your thoughts in the comments section of this very post as to whether or not you feel we're ready to take the next step! It should be noted, too, that we're using a public domain property, so nobody will get sued. :D

Do I have to get Le Quin to come here and hit you all with a Rhyme-O'-Reason to get you to leave comments?

Uh-oh... *backs away*

Lend us your reasoning! Lend us your text!
Would you be willing to pay for what's next?
Piggy Dorothy? Betsy Bunny?
Thrills, chills, and gags so funny?
You won't need to mortgage your house!
Find out who turns into a mouse!
If a big tip is donated for free,
perhaps YOU'LL get to be changed by ME!

Scary thought, eh? ;)

Aaaaaand that's a wrap for Issue #1! Overall comments and opinions welcomed, but please refrain from flaming or trolling!

Issue #2 is a work-in-progress as we speak! Until then...thanks for reading! :)

EDIT 3/28: Decided to "flip" the image, on a suggestion from one of our fans! Thanks again, Anymouse! ;)

When will the The Carnevillans of Oz issue 2 coming?  I can't wait to read it!  Nor the other future issues!  I love those drawings!

Work on issue 2 is underway as we speak. Unfortunately, we can't give a timeframe at the moment, but hopefully we will have it out very soon!

Watch this page for any updates and announcements! A preview of the cover for Issue 2 will be an indication that the full issue is almost ready! :)

Actually, you should credit me and Andrea Montano. It's her artwork, after all. :)

I don't think Andrea will have a problem with this, either. :)

Thanks for the kudos! Hope we don't disappoint in the issues to come! :)

Thanks! Andrea does all the visuals. I just wrote the story.

We're happy you're enjoying it, though! :)

They text and the art both go together so tightly and come together to make an engaging story.   That is quite an accomplishment.  Plus, this is a story for which I can't for the next installment.
